Frequently Asked Questions

What is Blogcast?

Blogcast is a managed service provider (MSP) that delivers an integrated bundle of software, services and hosting for organizations who need a sophisticated weblog publishing system without the hassle.

Are you a hosting provider?

Not in the typical sense. While hosting is a significant part of Blogcast's managed services, we also provide all the software you need, installed, configured and maintained by Blogcast. We will also provide support and mentoring to help you get the most out of Movable Type.

What is managed services?

Much like outsourcing, managed services is the delivery and ongoing management of information technology services for other companies via the Internet. Blogcast provides its clients with servers, network connectivity, and all of the software needed to run a powerful blogging system with Movable Type.

What are the advantages of managed services?

Managed services enable customers to outsource specific computer applications so they can focus on their core competencies. Blogcast enables customers to outsource the maintenance of their blogging system so they can focus on communicating with their own customers and constituents. Blogcast has developed more extensive experience and know-how than what in-house staff can typically provide and at less cost.

What is "mentoring?"

Mentoring is the term we use for the extended support and consultative services we provide our customers. Support exists for when things go wrong, but Blogcast wants to be there for you every step of the way. As a mentor, Blogcast can provide advice in getting things done in Movable Type quickly and effectively.

Do Blogcast packages include any custom development of templates or plugins?

The standard Blogcast packages do not include custom development. These services can be provided on top of Blogcast packages either through Appnel Solutions or another trusted Professional Network Member.

Is Blogcast for public weblogs only?

No. Blogcast can design and secure a system for internal (closed) use only, making it an ideal solution for intranets and extranets also.
